I probably do not talk enough about one of my favourite series in the whole world: rivers of london by ben aaronovitch. it is urban fantasy and about p.c. peter grant who learns that he has a knack for magic and that the london rivers are not only water bodies... i absolutely adore the audiobooks read by kobna holdbrook-smith and think the graphic novels are a wonderful addition to the books. ina @inch.along.the.bookshelves is nice enough to lend them to me. ๐Ÿ˜Š

May the fourth be with you! i don‘t usually commit to a fixed tbr but this month it kind of developed all by itself. from bottom to top: snöfried by andreas h. schmachtel is the children’s book i am currently reading. it is really cute and has even cuter illustrations ๐Ÿ’–
racing the sun by j. r. koop arrived yesterday and i am super excited to really get to know abrecan. so far i know a couple of short stories written by jasmin and i loved all of them. ๐Ÿฅฐ
one of the students i’m tutoring is reading aldous huxley‘s brave new world in school and so i thought it was finally time to also read it. i’ll be reading schöne neue welt which is the german translation by herberth e. herlitschka. @theunreadshelf‘s prompt for may is: read a book that you bought because of its adaptation. i didn‘t think i had any which fit the description, now i even have options! the wonderful wizard of oz by l. frank baum, though i think i actually bought it because i loved wicked by gregory maguire, and a man named ove by frederik backman (ein mann namens ove translated into german by stefanie werner). puha! sorry for this epic text ๐Ÿ˜„ who made it this far?

Puha! i just finished the word is m****r by anthony horowitz during #25infive (i am not getting anywhere near 25 hours ๐Ÿ˜„) and just had to know the solution to it all. it was a very interesting book and i especially enjoyed how the author put himself into the story and wove an intricate mesh of fact and fiction. what i didn‘t like is that hawthorne is homophob. there is no reason why he would need to be, he already was completely unlikable before we learned that about him. i think the unlikable character in combination with poor tony who has to put up with him was brilliant and worked really well but that fact about him didn‘t help the story at all.
what do you think about unlikable protagonists? ๐ŸŽญ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŽญ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŽญ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŽญ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŽญ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŽญ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŽญ

It‘s saturday, saturday, gotta get down on saturday! here is another example from my endless tbr. ๐Ÿ˜„ the bf and i found this at a book sale (was it the one where they sold by the kilo?). we took it because the title sounded great and i don‘t really know what it is about.
has one of you read it?

Happy furahiday! i am kind of particpating in #25infive but haven‘t read that much yet, so i am using the time now to catch up on the word is murder. i am buddyreading it with @inch.along.the.bookshelves because we‘ve both had this book for some time now (since we got it at the #frankfurtbookfair). so far it has been a fun and weird book because anthony horowitz mixes fact and fiction in a confusing way. ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“š

Heyho! this was a really cute little book and a quick read. it is the true story of a family who bought a bookshop in vienna quite spontaneously and moves there from hamburg in a matter of weeks. it was really interesting to read about their love of books and the sacrifices they chose to make in regards to their family life.
have you ever thought about making or even made a life changing decision without thinking it through for months?

Happy friday! i just finished trickster‘s queen by tamora pierce and i am still wondering whose face is on the cover... i think the first book depicts aly, but this? winna? anyway, i enjoyed the book for the most part. i grew up with daine, and tortall and its neighbouring countries will always feel like home to me. i like aly and sarai and dove and lots of the other guys, and the story had a decent pacing. there were some points though i didn‘t enjoy and decisions that felt like an easy way out, but i don‘t want to go all spoilery on here. who has also read this duology? how did you like it?
i am a bit behind for #theunreadshelfproject2019 because this was one of the books that had been on my unread shelf the longest... on to on the come up which is my newest! :) ๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿด๐Ÿฆ‡๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿด๐Ÿฆ‡๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿด๐Ÿฆ‡๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿด๐Ÿฆ‡

March wrap-up! :) it is going to be a quick one: the book in the picture is the only one i finished. „das haus der verlorenen kinder“ by claire legrand (original title: the cavendish home for boys and girls) is what i would call a children‘s horror book ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ฑ victoria and lawrence are a strange kind of friends, victoria is driven and strives to be perfect in everything, lawrence loves music and doesn‘t care about anything else much. when lawrence disappears victoria notices that almost everybody behaves weird and decides to go looking for her friend.... i also started a book for #theunreadshelf2019 but haven‘t finished it yet. :)
audio book wise i listened to 12 books. my favorite was in the market for m****r by t.e. kinsey a cosy crime set in england with a quirky loveable duo. ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽถ

Hello bookish peeps,
here is my very, very late february wrap-up:
i finished five books which is a lot for me but then i was sick and spent a lot of time on my sofa reading children’s books… my favorite was children of blood and bone by tomi adeyemi. she created an amazingly magical world with intriguing characters and i absolutely can’t wait for covav, the second instalment, to come out!
i also finished seven audio books (i think – can’t guarantee i noted them all down) of which i liked “a quiet life in the country” by t.e. kinsey best, it is such a super cosy cosy-crime story i couldn’t stop listening to it.
i got one new book: on the come up by angie thomas – yay for gift cards ๐Ÿ˜‰ – and i am really looking forwards to reading it, because i loved her first book and the second one is about hiphop which is a bonus.
it is looking quite good for #theunreadshelfproject2019 ๐Ÿ˜Š
if you’ve read to this point you might be asking yourself why oh why i post my wrap-up with another photo of “my song”, harry belafonte’s autobiography... well, that is because i am still reading it with very slow progress. i am a non-fiction sloth.
what was your favorite book in february?
