puha! i am feeling kind of conflicted about this... it was a gripping story and i really wanted anderson dead and sector 45 freed. i also love kenji and james and i like „the girls“ and the whole gang basically. i can kind of understand adam‘s moping but not his anger and violence towards j. speaking of her, i am very proud of her development, how she discovered her strength and confidence and yes, i am sympathetic towards aaron, but nooo these two should not be together πŸ™ˆ no, no, no! even if it was for kind-of-the-right reasons, he was still horrible to her and traumatised her further.
if you‘ve read it, what did you think?

Yaaas! it has been so much fun reading children of blood and bone! take that, reading slump! πŸ˜‚ spending a weekend with my sister, reading a great deal of it definitely helped (and was a lot of fun as we found many parallels between her detective story and my ya fantasy). back to the book: i buddy read it with @inch.along.the.bookshelves although i was a tiny bit slower (most of the time) so i could theorise and utter my excitment while ina used her poker face 😢
i like the story about the stolen magic and the mission the kids are sent upon. the world building is amazing and the story is quite fast paced and was interesting the whole time. i liked all the characters as far as they were meant to be liked and despised others, the development was great. the last hundred pages forced me to stay on my sofa and finish the book. though there were some things i didn‘t like, i still hope tomi adeyemi finishes the second book soon, because i can‘t wait πŸ˜‡
oh, this was my february book for #theunreadshelfproject2019 because i bought it with a gift card πŸ˜‡ (danke, nachhilfeschule!) and it is also good for two more prompts of the #friends list of @puttingwingsonwords ‘s #pwowreadingchallenge19 because i buddy read it with ina and kind of got it as a gift. 😊

Hello book lovers, how are you guys? i hope you all are having a lovely sunday and aren‘t a #snivellus like me. ;) time for a little #januarywrapup:
i finished one book: wundersmith by jessica townsend which i absolutely loved.
i unhauled one book from my tbr shelf: ulysses by james joyce. i borrowed it from my mother years ago but never read more than 20 or 30 pages. it is not for me and i don‘t want to give it another try. maybe someone else will like it ;) i got five new books, four of them for my birthday. :)
and i also finished 18 audio books, please don‘t ask me how... i especially enjoyed the five books in the tiffany aching series πŸ₯° i read the first three some years ago and finally finished the series this way.
at the moment i am reading four books. one of them is a buddy read and one i am reading together with my bf (we should continue soon, in case you read this ;)). have you ever tried to read ulysses? how did it go for you? πŸ““πŸ““πŸ““πŸ““πŸ““πŸ““πŸ““πŸ““πŸ““πŸ““πŸ““πŸ““πŸ““πŸ““

Yeah, i know you can‘t travel by brolly here, but it was the closest i could get ;) i finished the first book for 2019 a couple of days ago and it was a wonderful adventure again. some parts were almost too scary for me and at the end i could hardly put it down. this book has a bit of everything and i am really happy that jessica townsend has planned for a lot more books. πŸ₯°
have you read the stories about mog (yet)?
this is my first book this year for #theunreadshelfprojecf2019 and it will also count for #pwowreadingchallenge19 which i want to try and participate in, too. it os a book that @inch.along.the.bookshelves kept recommending me so much that she let me borrow it. πŸ™‚ thanks so much! πŸ’– oh, the book also has strong family bonds 😊

Winter is finally slowly creeping into my part of germany and i might get to take some snow pictures after all. :) today i went to a networking thing for translators and interpreters which left me happy and very exhausted. as it was a bit away from my hometown the train ride provided the perfect opportunity to start ignite me. it started off with some apologies and explanations but i am still not sure if i will ever join in the hype around a certain person... πŸ€”

Min kærste decided that reading scifi together is the perfect remedy for my reading slump and it looks like it is working. 😊 this alien shore has been wonderfully strange and confusing. so many factions, so many parties... does anyone know this? 🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁

Tadaaa, my first proper post for 2019! πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ proper in so far as i took the picture myself... πŸ˜„ wundersmith by jessica townsend was the last book i read in 2018 and is also the first in 2019. it is such a lovely book and i hope i can soon give it my undivided attention and finish harry belafonte‘s autobiography afterwards. one of them will count for #theunreadshelfproject2019 though i won‘t get rid of any of them should i not finish them by the end of the month. it‘s absolutely not their fault that i am in a reading slump. ;) πŸ“šπŸ“šπŸ“šπŸ“šπŸ“šπŸ“šπŸ“šπŸ“šπŸ“šπŸ“šπŸ“šπŸ“šπŸ“šπŸ“š

Happy new year! one more look back and 2019 can begin. 😊 these are my #2018bestnine - the pictures you liked best. it is so interesting because my #2017bestnine were mostly green and almost all of them #tolkien related, this year they are mostly blue and white. i had a lot of fun recording all the books i read for the first time for the whole year and reading them of course. i liked most of the books i read (goodreads says my average rating was 3.7* - not too bad). not sure which one was my favorite but the binti series by nnedi okorafor, nevermoor by jessica townsend and ein leben mehr by jocelyne saucier were definitely among them, oh and purple hibiscus by chimamanda ngozi adichie. all great and all for different reasons, what they have in common is that they were written by women. 😊
can you pick just one favorite book for 2018?
i hope you all had a great beginning of this year and that it will bring you peace and happiness and wonderful books. πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰

I am joining in #theunreadshelfproject2019 because i loved participting this year and well, discovering the hidden treasures on our bookshelves is just more fun together. :) i started 2018 with 276 unread books, read 42 books in total (i don‘t think i‘ll be finishing more today or tomorrow) and am now at 282 unread books. so that‘s my starting point.
i have yet to think about my exact reading goals for next year, but i definitely want to prioritise the books i borrowed. 😊
thanks for doing this again, @theunreadshelf!

Finally finished reading trickster‘s choice which i started reading for #theunreadshelfproject2018 for october. πŸ™ˆ now i am looking forward to harry belafonte‘s my song, his autobiography, which i already started a couple of weeks ago and which also nicely fits #nonfictionnovember and the prompt past time. i like his music a lot and have ever since i was a little girl back in the 1980‘s. i have actually never seen one of his movies and will see if i get interested in them after reading about that part of his work. so where are my fellow harry belafonte fans, bookstagram? 😊

I am reading very slowly at the moment so here is a picture of one of my one million unread books... i took it in may or june but the colours are pretty autumnal. :) i got this with one of my pagehabit boxes and am pretty curious to read it. does anyone know this already?
