πŸ‘πŸΌπŸš΄‍♀️ @annameares ・・・
2 years ago, #rio2016 i won the final medal of my career.
#olympicbronze #keirin
many people said to me when i came home, ‘we’re sorry you didn’t win gold; you must be disappointed’
disappointment doesn’t come close to describing this result.
i think sometimes we forget how hard it is to win an olympic medal and indeed be number 1.
in my career i am proud that over 16 years at the elite senior level, at every olympic & commonwealth games that i contested i was on the podium and brought home a medal, for me, for my team, for my family, for my country.
this bronze makes me feel as proud as any gold i’ve ever won.
and as @amymccann31 filled me in 2 years ago,
‘until this bronze, no australian athlete in any sport had medaled individually at 4 consecutive olympic games’
disappointment... no. this medal wrote history. of that i am very proud!
