The smallest monkeys in the world also happen to make some of the best dads in the world. 👪 father pygmy marmosets help out mother pygmy marmosets by carrying their offspring and teaching them the ways of tiny-monkey life.🐒

“i feel like this is a good representation of scotland, gloomy skies, mountains and deers that know how to model. glen etive is the place to go if you want to get views like this, it’s definitely one of my favourite spots in the highlands! ” 🦌📸 + text by beth squire (@beasquire )

“the rakotzbrücke bridge is commonly referred to as the "devil bridge" in the kromlau park, germany. it was built in 1860. in fact, this is not a bridge, but a monument made of basalt, and its peculiarity is that, together with the reflection in water, forms an ideal circle, as a portal to another world.” 🌎📸 + photo and text by alexander ladanivskyy (@ladanivskyy )

"at just around 10 cm high, the ultramarine flycatcher chooses to breed in the foothills of the himalayas before migrating to southern india for the winter. during the winter, you will usually find a baby bird accompanied by his mother or father, an indication of successful breeding and a hint to the fact that an adult ultramarine flycatcher will be here by next winter to continue the cycle." 📷+ text by pratik humnabadkar (@pratikhumnabadkar )

“young humpback whales are always very playful. they like to interact with other animals and of course with humans. but it’ll be up to the mother to decide if the young one can play with an underwater photographer like me! i took this picture in rurutu, french polynesia, where i got to spend an hour and half with a calf and his mother. from the start she was totally ok to leave him with me. he was getting more and more confident and at some point we started an imitation game: if i was diving down and spin on the side he’d do the same, then i was also imitating his moves. an unforgettable experience!” 🐋📸 +caption by fred buyle (@fredbuyle )

“overall, this event has been sufficiently overwhelming for many families who have been entirely displaced by the disaster. countless people who have lost everything from the lava are in constant distress from the uncertainty of the persistent eruption that has taken place in the last months.
.
.
however, the hawaiian people are tough, their character is stronger than most i’ve ever met, in their resolve to band together as family. as “ohana”. this quality of cohesiveness we can all learn from for sure.” 📸 + text by donal boyd (@donalboyd )

“after passing a military checkpoint, we met up with neighbors who had stopped on the roadside to survey the plume of white smoke and ominous sky. a couple holding hands grabbed our attention. they had accepted the fate of their hawaiian home, soon to be covered in lava, and stood strong abound with so much courage amidst the certainty of loss. they told me that they were thankful that they were able to enjoy the house for 20 years and had come to terms with the fact that really nothing can be permanent. this mindset empowered and bolstered my intentions. we drove onward and out of the danger-zone, feeling a bit less solemn.” 📸 + photo and text by donal boyd (@donalboyd )

Forced to evacuate from hawaii last weekend, photographer @donalboyd captured several aerial photos from a helicopter as him and his friends watched the neighborhood of kapoho become consumed by lava.

“the day prior to getting into the helicopter, i stood in a circle on the lawn of my friend jordan’s home and we passed around ti leaves in silence. the neighborhood was quiet and most people had been evacuated by that time. in the distance, we could see looming clouds signaling the approach of a lava flow advancing towards the ocean and in the direction of the house. we knew we had to get out of there soon.” 📸 + text by donal boyd (@donalboyd )

An encounter with plastic is often fatal for any creature that calls the ocean home. every year, a 100,000 marine creatures die from different forms of plastic entanglement. 😔 this #worldoceanday, take a moment to remember that 70% of the earth is covered by water and that most of its inhabitants are completely defenseless against human garbage.

"an american eagle bombardier flies over the 96% waxing gibbous flower moon on approach to phoenix sky harbor international airport may 27, 2018. the challenge of catching any kind of plane flying across a full moon has always fascinated me, as has catching the full moon as it traverses an interesting horizon or a landmark building or other place of interest. the key is to identify an area where planes consistently follow the same path (such as on the approach to a major airport) and then research when the moon will roughly be in the same vicinity at the same altitude. it takes patience and a little good luck but when you can see the plane approaching and it is looking like it may cross the moon, the excitement rises. most often it’s a miss, but when it hits it’s fun!" 📸 + photo and text by richard j. simonsen (@richardjsimonsen )
