Ammar syed is a multi-disciplinary artist based in london. his practice
investigates the ‘banal’ and the ‘everyday’ and focuses on everyday
scenarios and objects on the street. how different scenarios and ordinary objects through defamiliarization can possess a different narrative when placed in a different context. he likes to explore the areas of photography, drawing and design in his work. his work is hugely inspired and influenced by islamic geometric patterns, persian miniature paintings of the mughal era and contemporary impressionism.

My name is gelila mesfin and i am an ethiopian artist. the inspiration for my art work comes from african culture and black women. the abundance in color as well as patterns are influenced by traditional african clothing and vibrant prints. my subject matter heavily focuses on black women because for a long period of time they were misrepresented and not fully appreciated as muses in the art community. my art is meant to uplift and celebrate the rich ancestry, heritage, culture and beauty that black women posses.
