Another #backworkout in the books. my friend @gunning4fitness mentioned (i think in her stories the other day) to train with purpose. whether it’s to lift a little heavier, add an additional set, hold a plank a little longer, just have a purpose or goal for that session. tonight i lifted heavier than i have in a long time for my single arm rows and my lat pull downs. thank you for the push! it felt great mentally!

confession: i took a selfie today, and hated it. i felt like i looked 30lbs heavier than i should. ive shared that i'm "bulking", or as i like to say it, healing my metabolism, right now. causing my clothes feel tighter than normal, the scale is up. i hate this feeling

so, i go looking back for pictures of what my body is capable of. .

i used to compare myself to every other girl in the room. (it's still a struggle, especially when i'm not super happy with my physique)

however, i've finally learned that comparing myself to everyone else, will only cause anxiety, depression, and feelings of failure. i'm not them! i have no control over their results, what they eat, how hard they train, their genetics, and quite frankly how theyve posed or photoshopped the picture i'm comparing myself to. .

but i do have control over mine! i know exactly what hard work produces. now, trying to beat that girl, is what motivates me. .

however, i'm still missing the shreds! i'm beyond ready to start dieting again! (the break was much needed)

believe it or not, there is not only one right way to workout 🤯
you can do so many different variations of exercises and sets and reps and many of them will yield good results. it just depends on what your goals are. are you trying to add on muscle mass, get crazy strong, gain endurance, drop those few extra pounds? no matter what it is find your goal and stick to that goal. consistency is key 🔑

- flat barbell bench press: 5 sets of 5 reps, 245 lbs.
- plate press: 5 sets of 10 reps, 20 lbs.

- incline dumbbell press: 4 sets of 8, 100 lbs.
- standing dumbbell chest fly: 4 sets of 8, 15 lbs. (squeeze hard)

On those days you don’t want to go to the gym- you’re tired, have a busy day, too sore, have a headache, or just don’t feel like going— go anyway. you will never regret it! even if you can only give 50% effort on those days, doing something is always better than doing nothing! i set a goal a year ago to go to the gym at least 3x/week no matter what. even on days i was completely overwhelmed, too tired, or i had sick kids, i went anyway. i found a way. and i know that is a huge reason why 2019 was my best year yet! movement is healing & empowering. consistency in exercise will change you in so many more ways than just your looks! have you ever gone to the gym when you didn’t want to? how did you feel after??

Have you ever noticed how some people are fast walkers and others are unbearably slow??? this might be related to the length of their legs in proportion to the rest of their body.⠀

people with long limbs are at a mechanical advantage for certain things. long legs are great for running, rock climbing, swimming, and cycling, but they kinda s**k for squats, lunges, etc.⠀

the same thing goes for your arms, some people naturally have longer arms in proportion to the rest of their body. those long arm people will have an easier time deadlifting, but struggle when it comes to overhead pressing.⠀

you find the motivation from never stopping. once you start, you keep going, because all the small victories and progress over time is what keeps the motivation alive on a daily basis.

there is no ceiling to your potential or progress. motivation is within, you have to create it. when you consistently work, changes happen, and noticing the changes gives you more motivation to keep going.

stop looking for external sources to help motivate you, that is only temporary. when you motivate you, there is no need to look or find motivation because you have the discipline to stay with it and keep creating it on your own.

Ive been thinking a lot lately 🤔 and i can honestly say when i push myself with limited breaks is when i get in the best shape.

This award means a lot...legends boxing bountiful took home the gold and won rookie gym of the year! we truly couldn’t have done it without the members in bountiful, coaches that bring the energy(juan, julie, jason and talmadge), account manager colton and corporate staff! we strive to bring the best workouts at the gym and have a great community here! i have truly enjoy seeing the friendships, accomplishments and fun that has flourished at the gym.
a few things we are looking forward to the next coming months are: expanding more classes, adding an additional sparring class on weekends, bringing on additional member coaches, adding an intake specialist, member group text, to name a few. let’s have a great 2020 at legends bountiful!

I remember when i first started doing squats and lunges with the bar. i had to use a bar pad because it hurt my neck and back bones. i didn’t have enough muscle mass. over the years, i have grown enough muscle that it no longer hurts because there is natural “padding” now. it’s the little things that make me smile. #weightliftingmom #gymequipment #naturalhair

Why do i like lifting weights ;
1-confidence ! the stronger i get the better i feel about myself
2-i like the challenge to be consistent and motivated
3-stress reliever for whatever i’m dealing in my life
4-to be a good example to my kids and be able to do things with them, whether is jujitsu, soccer, running, swimming, hiking. i want them to see what is a healthy habits look like, working out eating healthy.
5- makes me happy!! the gym is an outlet for me, i want to aged gratefully take care of my body inside out. makes me feel accomplished even in those days i don’t feel like going to gym but after am done it makes me feel happy.
final, i love competing from making myself so nervous that i get sick to my stomach to the adrenaline rush crushing goals!! being around strong people that i look up to is my favorite thing about lifting.

🥗eating healthy vs. eating for weight loss, is there a difference. yes, there is a huge difference between the two. eating for weight loss means you want to eat less calories than you expend. if you are eating for health you eat the healthiest foods possible which may mean not the lowest calorie dense foods. example, peanut butter! peanut butter is all healthy right if we get the all natural kind with nothing in it other than peanuts blah blah blah. for 2 tbsp you're looking at 200 calories. avocado is another huge healthy food. for 1 cup sliced avocado its 234 calories. yes they are healthy for you for sure but if you are looking to lose weight these foods are not the best because of how many calories are in the foods for such a small amount. if you're not looking to lose weight eat all the peanut butter and avocados you want that is awesome but what i am saying is that you want to lose weight you have to look at the daily calorie intake vs how many calories you expend. now am i saying just because you want to lose weight you cant eat peanut butter or avocados, no, what i'm saying is you have to look at the calories of those foods and make sure you are staying within your calorie intake so you are in a calorie deficit every day to lose weight. just because you eat "healthy foods" doesn't automatically mean you will lose weight. .
