Mardi gras? donut day? f*t tuesday? whatever it is, i’ll happily join in to celebrate 🥳 one tradition i’ve done since a kid is king cake! have you ever tried it? essentially each year someone buys the cake, places a plastic mini baby in the cake and then everyone cuts their own piece in hopes to get the baby to bring them good luck 🌟 always thought it was fun so i brought an actual king cake to work today but made these king cake donuts for home 🍩 they’re just my paleo cinnamon donut recipe with a dash of nutmeg added but the real fun is in the icing 😜 fun fact: i went to 3 different stores that were all somehow out of sprinkles so we had to get creative 😂 see them recipe below! and have a very merry (hopefully full of luck) day 🎉

deats 👉 paleo cinnamon donuts:
1c @bobsredmill almond flour
3 tbsp maple syrup (sub any liquid sweetener)
1 tbsp @carringtonfarms coconut oil (sub any liquid oil)
1 egg
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg

whisk wet ingredients and then dry. bake at 350 for 10-12 min. for the icing (not paleo) i mixed together **very roughly measured** 1c powdered sugar + 2 tbsp almond milk. split the icing in three - added acai powder to make purple, matcha powder to make green & turmeric to make yellow/gold. you do not need a lot of these powders, not for taste just a subtle color

Exactly 5 years ago i got on a one-way plane and moved 2000+ miles away from home. ✈️ while it was easily one of the scariest and most difficult adult decisions i’ve ever made, i have absolutely zero regrets. 💯 i always believe everything happens for a reason even if you don’t understand that reason at the time.

Problemet med at være ekspert, personlig træner, diætist eller læge er at man tror man ved alt når man har taget sin uddannelse.

og på de fleste uddannelser lærer man at det bare handler om kalorier ind vs kalorier ud.

jeg har skrevet om det før, men dine hormoner styrer om du taber dig eller ej. bestemt et hormon nemlig insulin.

en anden ting er din tarmflora. inde i dine tarme er der over 100 trillioner af bakterier over 3 gange så mange som der er celler i din krop. ca. 90 procent at dit dna kommer fra dine tarmbakterier. så hvis du har svært ved at tabe dig, har det intet med hvor mange kalorier du spiser, men alt at gøre med din tarmflora. der er mange forskellige grunde til at dine tarmflora er fucked.

1) det kan være en simpel ting som din fødsel. er du blevet født normalt eller med kejsersnit?
.
2) har din mor en god tarmflora? overvægt er tegn på dårlig tarmflora. .
3) socialt samvær med andre mennesker har også en effekt på din tarmflora.

4) træning har en stor effekt på din tarmflora.
.
5) kost har en kæmpe effekt på din tarmflora. spis nok grøntsager dine gode tarmbakterier lever af fiber.

6) har du været meget syg som barn, og fået antibiotika, det har en kæmpe effekt på din tarmflora.

så hvis en helt normalt fyr som mig kan finde disse informationer på nettet og via studier. hvordan kan det så være at eksperter ikke kan finde ud af andet end sige, det handler om kalorier ind vs ud. og hvis ikke det er kalorier ind vs ud så har du problemer med dit stofskifte. guess what???? dit stofskifte er styrer af dine hormoner, dine hormoner er styret af din tarmflora.

I’m back! .

guess what, surprise! i’m human too and struggle some days 🤷🏼‍♀️ there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking a day or 2 to get other things done, to relax your body, or just be lazy. what’s important is that you know you’ll get back to your workout routine and that this little bump isn’t the end all. now i wouldn’t let a day or 2 turn into a month or two - but giving yourself a little breather is always ok 👌 and nothing like coming back to my love/hate relationship with these bands. i’ve really missed lifting these last couple weeks, so getting to use these this morning was just what i needed. never take lifting for granted people 🙌 have a great wednesday ✨ #fitcatmom

I think everyone uses social media for different things. for me and @jessicabento too, social media offers us an opportunity to try to share, educate, and get our industry to think a bit deeper about subjects we tend to overlook, judge too fast, or just misunderstand. balance training is one of those subjects that is important, but actually has gotten hijacked by bad exercises calling themselves “balance training”. ___________

@rdpaget helps me illustrate the point that balance is more complex than most think. there is static and dynamic balance, but in both cases the goal is really to keep your center of mass over your base of support. the ultimate goal isn’t to balance on “things”, but to move with fluidity and an ability to react unpredictable forces like robin does so well with these pkm and dvrt drills.

🍑 happy h**p day! 🍑 fitting that it was glutes/hams for me today 🤪 i had succcch a good workout, i feel absolutely giddy. ⁣

i’m telling you what, since i started changing the way i thought about going to the gym, my lifts have been sooo much better. i was starting to burn out and it was beginning to feel like a chore that i didn’t enjoy anymore. just this week i was reflecting, and decided to go with no “weight loss goal” or the intent to burn as many calories as possible. i just decided to push myself and see how strong i am. game changer. i have gotten pr’s every day so far, and it’s already feeling like less of something that i have to do, but rather something that i get to do. i know this journey definitely isn’t linear but i am sooo excited to see what this next phase of it will bring about 👏🏼⁣

Have your cake & eat it toooo🎶challenge: tried a "new" cake today - battenburg!! "new" because i'd had it as a kid, but i haven't rly had it since... it's so distinctive, i remembered it as soon as i tried some🙊 it's sooo sweet tho, so it was bit of a shock to the system; i'm not massive on cakes tbh, but my mum got it and it's pretty bc it's pink, so i went ahead and challenged it😂


i'm finding more and more how important it is to have a real balance - not diet cultures balance, but actual balance. meaning incorporating all types of foods, especially snack-y and/or sweet things like sweets or cookies, and having things like pizza or fastfood if you feel like it. depriving yourself of these things will eventually lead to you wanting more of these things - i know that restricting led to binges, and 9/10 times i'd binge on all of the stuff i "couldn't" have. eat your fruit and veg and grains, but also make sure to eat the things you like and want to eat too - that's proper balance ✌🏻

I’m finally back on the ice🕺🏼 .

finally got my foot in my skate! just stuck to the basics this morning keeping it light, doubles and a few combinations and a few flying and combo spins .

ankle is still a big tender but it just feels like bruising but the actual movement is absolutely fine and i feel like i have a new leg and feel a lot lighter on my feet again! .

can’t thank alan at personal best enough for constantly sorting me out, honestly couldn’t thank him enough! so let’s see how long i can last without hurting myself again😂😂 .

Groceries for the week. everything was purchased at wal-mart. excited to try the falafel and tried the english muffins this morning..they are good!
don't be afraid of frozen fruits and vegetables! they are affordable and you don't have to worry about them going bad. just don't buy anything with sauces or seasoning.. a lot of them have hidden sugar.

Morning ab check..started training abs a few months ago, because i realized i had a huge muscle imbalance my lower back is very strong but the abs not so much. happy to say all my lower backmossues have resided and well it helped my abs start popping also.

Why you should strength train!

around 3 yrs back i had been the person on the left however since i was eating healthy i don't look so bad! there is nothing wrong in looking like that or wanting to look like that and i am not saying this is worse or better! i am sharing this just to show what you should be doing when you want to look a certain way! i, for sure, didn't want to look like that because i lost my curves 🙈! i weighed 50 kg that time!🙈
i used to do only cardio and eat healthy but no ghee!

the person you see on the right is the result of strength training + cardio along with proper diet which includes homemade cow ghee in each of my major meals! and although i haven't still achieved my goal ( and probably never will, cos it will keep on increasing and it should to keep life interesting and also because fitness is a lifelong journey), i am glad i am going in the right direction of how i want to look like! although i weigh 52/53 (dont know exactly, i haven't weighed myself since an year🤷), i am stronger, look much better and toned compared to what i looked when i was 50kgs and around three years younger!

when we have not made healthy eating and exercise a lifestyle, we resort to cardio along with poor diet (the tried and tested way to lose weight fast) when there is some function coming up and there is a sudden need to 'fit in that outfit' and 'look slim'!

Our children are always watching!👀that’s why it’s so important for us to be careful about the silent messages we are sending them, especially when it comes to our health and wellness. we live in a society that very often promotes unrealistic body ideals. so, for me it’s been a priority to let my kids know that i’m eating a healthier diet and working out to become stronger not skinnier. i’m fighting against diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and a list of other illnesses that can inhabit & take control of your body if you’re not mentally & physically strong enough to fight it. i’m breaking the cycle of all of the illnesses that have plagued my family for generations. •
let your kids know that “strong is the new beautiful”. let them know that being strong is more about what you can’t see. that hidden strength inside you is what will help you through life when things get challenging. tell them that strong is believing in yourself and not letting obstacles stand in your way. it’s a powerful beauty that encompasses courage, strength, diligence, and grit.

Forgot to post yesterday because i got busy but starting no sugar for 40 days. i’m excited to see how my body feels after. i don’t consume a ton of sugar normally but it’s definitely hidden in things i usually wouldn’t expect. i don’t normally care about weight but figured i’d weigh in to see where i start and where i finish. i also plan to take measurements.
current weight: 157 lbs
i’m sorry if i’m a crabby a*s for the next couple weeks as my body detoxes from sugar 😂

Some lifting videos from the last couple of days. almost got 500lbs squat. but i did hit a bench pr of 300x2. then failed at 315. hahaha. thanks to @deadlift_heathen and @atrtrainingsystems for the bad a*s program. ever since getting a coach to help me out with my #strongmanjourney i have been feeling stronger and more confident in my lifts. still have a long way to go but with these guys i'm going to get where i need to. and with the @trainheroic app makes getting the programs way easier and communicating with the coach. thanks to @adubbbb53 and @wh_braz for being awesome lifting partners that have not run away yet.
also thank you @dr.jordanmartin for fixing me broken a*s so i can go back and break myself again. hahahaha

in addition to the adaptation explained in part 1, which is basically the decrease of total calorie requirements due to weight loss. other stuff also takes place, which just adds salt to the dieters’ wounds 🤕.

reducing calories will cause our hunger signals to increase. that’s why our appetite is off the roof when we’re starting to lose weight. it is estimated that for each kg of body weight loss shoots up the appetite and food intake as much as 100 kcal/day. the net effect of this leads to a much lower rate of weight loss than we might expect. in some cases, it could even lead to weight regain

lastly, a rise in cortisol 📈 (yeah that stress hormone again) from the stress of dieting can cause our bodies to store more f*t in the belly as it increases insulin resistance and also make the body holds water at the same time, so you’ll feel “softer” and not as lean. 💦

but by sharing all these, i’m really not trying to discourage you from attempting to lose weight. at the end of the day, you do you. rather, i want to encourage you to do it responsibly. stop worrying about how quickly you’re losing weight. stop fighting your body so much by not giving it food. 💀.. i know how it feels. been there. now if i think about it i feel silly. i mean why the hurry? if you do it the “fast” way, you’ll probably get to where you want faster. but at what cost? cause that cost, you’ll be paying sooner or later
