day 3: carnival day!
we saw a total of 190+ children coming through the doors of centre of hope today! played a couple of games with different age groups, watched tom & jerry, and ended the time with some snacks.
it's been two full days here and we've two more days left! lots of smiles and joy all around.
we are especially thankful to have the help of the centre staff - ms jeya, rukshan, padi, and anna, who have been a great help to us in making today's carnival a success! haha and in fact, we were more like aids to them who were really the main troopers running everything. we found out that apart from padi, the rest of the team stationed there chose to call thirrukkovil their home. such big hearts!

💫mental health check💫 today i really didn’t want to go to the gym, i had a long stressful day at work and i just wanted to binge eat and lay on the couch. but! i have goals that i want to reach, and i will not let my anxiety, mood swings and insecurities stop me from kicking my goals! i have come too far and worked too hard to give it all up now and to give in on days when i feel weak. yes it’s good to take mental health days and yes it is important to listen to your body, but today i said i am stronger, i have willpower and i am consistent! ....and so are you💫🌸✅

It’s h**p day! so let’s talk about squats: 🍑

squats are a great whole body, compound exercises that typical dominates your quads, hamstrings and glutes. done correctly, they can build the strength in your leg muscles, improve your stability and increase your balance.
with or without weight, there are so many different squat combinations and techniques that make for great workout components. here i show a weighted back squat: a nice wide stance with my weight in my heels, knees turned out and shoulders back. these help shape and tone my glutes, as well as building my quad strength.
