Leave me a note at the door
i won't be there to answer your call
i am going on a journey, i don't know where
i packed a bag full of regrets, hurts and fears -
-
leave me a note at the door
i don't know how long i'll be gone
i am in pursuit of freedom, i don't know how
i packed a bag full of rejection, abuse and tears -
-
leave me a note at the door
i'll read it when i return
i will return
i will return -

Roses are red they say,
but for me red is defined by the blush in her cheeks
as dark as the night they say,
but nothing can be darker than her flowing hair
as cold as steel they say,
but nothing can be colder than her hateful gaze
as large as life they say,
but never have i seen an ego this large
she may not be perfect in every eye,
neither is she in mine
but all her imperfections are her choice
for she chooses to define her own life

How many of you here are solitary child? (i'm talking about the boys)...
have you ever thought about the reason? we have a real s*****d up s*x ratio not only in engineering colleges you study in but also in our country.
i would like to tell you about an unborn girl child..
it's s*x was not detected until the first three months which was a pretty long wait for its family members. then after it was taken to the hospital after the end of first trimester, something really different happened. it could feel the check up it usually had was kinda different and this took a longer time. then it came to know about its gender. the whole family came to know. she was a girl... on the other side of the womb, her grandmother was very upset and morose and was busy throwing her frustration on her daughter in law saying "all three failed attempts, i am not sure if this wife is good for you son". she could sense her mother's tears... after three years the couple gave birth to a baby boy... his grandmother was so happy that she bought new gold jewellery for her daughter in law.
but no one asked of the little girl again...
she was murdered brutally in the w**b of her mother... she could never see the light of this world... i think i'm lucky to be alive.

looking up at the dark night sky with stars flickering... you realise you miss someone. someone who could call you a father, someone who could light up your world, unlike the sky now. would there be any difference if she would have lived? looking up again you try to find the beauty of stars... consoling yourself 'i have my son though'...
but you immediately strike a comparison. if the stars represent the son, then she would have been my sun, specific, special for me, sustaining the life in our family.
then you question yourself again...
was it at all necessary?

Ghore ferar taan

it was shashti evening. a workaholic nri was trying her best to get all the works done and manage to get atleast 4 days leave from her office.
it was almost a year that she had last visited her home city - kolkata. a fight with her beloved sister and she was convinced that she would be able to stay away from kolkata during pujas.

however, fate takes us there where our heart wants to. she felt weak when she saw her mother in the red saree. tears were rolling down her cheeks.
finally, she was home after a flight of 22 hours. she hugged her sister tightly at the airport.
the city washes away all the traces of anger, wrath and sorrow. the city of joy won't ever let anyone stay unhappy forever.
she was welcomed to her home by a warm shower of shiuli flowers. a few hours later, she was dressed up in a saree, ready for pushpanjali.

it's tough for a bengali to stay away from kolkata during durga pujo. durga pujo is not only the biggest festival for the bengalis, it was, is and will be an emotion for all the bengalis forever.
