#lovereading #exerciseyourmind #challengeyourmind #readtolive okay, i just finished reading this amazing book by rabbi daniel lapin titled business secrets from the bible and it absolutely opened my mind to new depths of wisdom i didn’t even realize existed. my attitude to service to mankind and the role money plays in god’s plan literally shifted into new dimensions in the time i have taken to read, no study, this book. i didn’t just read it, i studied it, underlined it, reread buts of it and gave it to my daughter @nessacole_ to read. she immediately brought out a notepad and went to work studying, jotting down, taking notes and absorbing the lessons therein as if her life depended on it. i have much to be grateful to another daughter of mine @omololajaiyesimi for gifting me this book and i intend to do the same whenever i can. some books should never stay hidden and this is one of them.

Bridges are a common exercise that can strengthen the core, glutes, and hamstrings!
this awesome bridge pose by @actionjacquelyn 💪
_____
correct ✅:
* ground all corners of feet into the floor, especially the big toe and heels. * the most mind blowing concept here is that the heels actually press into the floor and towards hips, instead of away from hips. this engages the hamstrings and creates more space throughout the spine. * widen across chest and press shoulders down into floor. when the shoulders open and press into floor, the heart and sternum is lifted from the support of the upper back and shoulders.
* lengthen neck by keeping shoulders depressed, and keep gaze forward * outer hips (i.e. glutes) engage but don’t grip
• feet are parallel to one another
____
incorrect ❌:
* the lift of the bridge is happening from the low back, and the goal is to bend the entire spine and not just depend on the low back. * the feet are not grounded and the knees are externally rotating, which puts a lot of pressure on the si and low back * keep your head forward and lengthen neck .

We have a tendency of thinking that the forward fold is only “achieved” when we touch our toes. and so we compromise a lot of other areas in order to touch the toes. but when we eliminate that expectation, not only do we start to focus on other areas but we also indirectly peel away a layer of the ego that tends to lead our actions
.
think also about bringing awareness to the energy in the body. if it feels heavy and sinking downwards, then you may need to re-examine the pose. think of balancing the energy - there should be an equal energy backwards and forward... without using the hands!
.
before folding forward:
• move the flesh away from the sit bones and feel the sit bones grounded
• activate the legs by flexing the foot towards the face
• press the thighs and calves down towards the mat
• feel an internal rotation in the thighs, like you’re trying to turn the thighs inwards but the knees remain pointing straight up
• feel like you’re trying to move the energy from your heels all the way back to the hips
.
once the grounding is set up, try to find the lift:
• press the sit bones together and try to press the lower belly closer towards the lower back (to remove the arch in the back from moving the hips back)
• finger tips are light against the mat (they can be by your knees in the beginning)
• lead with the chest - keep the collarbone wide, shoulders relaxed away from the ears
• look forward
.
to deepen the fold:
• keep pressing the heels, calves and thighs to move the hips back
• keep the lower belly actively pressing back to the lower back to deepen the fold from the hip flexors
• keep the chest lifted and look forward - palms light
.
the work here is really in the legs and the deep core muscles to deepen the fold and lengthen the spine
.
every time you feel like using your arms to pull, bring awareness to the intention of doing that - is that the ego leading, trying to make the pose look deeper? can we be okay if the pose doesn’t look as deep, but we maintain internal awareness? try to approach these thoughts and emotions without judgement.
.
and maybe try to smile... 😊

What can you do to strengthen your mind? 💪
here are 5 brain exercises to strengthen your mind:⠀
1️⃣ learn something new - because it will challenge you and improve your memory.⠀
2️⃣ try using your non-dominant hand when writing - it will not only challenge you but also increase your brain activity.⠀
3️⃣ socialize - it is beneficial for your brain both in the short and long term (especially for introverts).⠀
4️⃣ meditate - because it improves your self-observational skills.⠀
5️⃣ test your recall, where you make a list - of grocery items, things to do, or anything else that comes to mind - and memorize it. an hour or later, see how many items you can recall.

How are you progressing?
i came across this today in my feed. this picture was taken at bristol wellbeing. with mental health awareness at the forefront of many minds at the moment, it stands to reason that progress isn't just made in the gym. sometimes we need to take a step back and look at what else influences our lives other than what we do in the gym.
exercise can be a great assistance to dealing with mental health issues and is often an escape for many.
are you looking after your mental health as much as you are looking after your physical health?

Woke up in a bad mood today. my husband’s alarm clock p****d me off. lol sounds silly even typing that. but, it’s true. (fyi: my husband hibernates, he doesn’t “sleep”.) 🤣

i dragged my sorry self out of bed, walked slowly down the stairs, made him his breakfast & sent him off to work like i do every morning. bad mood & all. i could already tell that this was setting the tone for how the rest of my day would go. i was seeing only the negative, ignoring the positive.

i have an amazing husband to wake up to, who loves me a lot. he has a great job to provide for our family. i have the best dog in the world to take p***y bright & early b/c he held it all night so i could rest. i can afford superfoods to make my husband a super healthy meal to start the day. i have a warm bed, a roof over my head, as well as a job that brings me a lot of joy. i woke up to live another day.

at 5am, i usually start my day w/ that job that brings me joy — my coaching business. i mentor my coaches, check in on my challenge group ladies, plan content, check emails, etc. but, this morning i didn’t “want” to do anything. what a poor attitude.

i needed a do-over. i did “work” for a bit while i couldn’t sleep b/c that’s the beauty of working from anywhere as an entrepreneur. but i realized i needed to rest & wake up w/ a new mindset. a better attitude. so, i did just that.

guys remember: it’s a great day to have a great day. and that’s on you. i could’ve worked on coaching related duties all morning...but it wouldn’t have been coming from the best version of jenni. i like to do everything w/ a happy & willing heart, & genuinely put my best foot forward for my ladies.

give yourself grace and be grateful that you have things to complain about. that probably means that someone loves you & that you have blessings in your life.

think about one thing you are thankful for today & find the silver lining! 💗 share it with me below.

mine: today i’m thankful my husband wakes up so early to provide for our family. and i’m thankful for my hearing. 😆🤦‍♀️ (i’m also thankful for beautiful things like this totally unrelated horse i got to spend time w/ this morning on my commute to work.)

That moment just before your workout starts...who will you choose to be?
- the one that stays mentally tough or justifies cutting corners during the workout because it's hard?
- the one that gets the most out of every rep or the one that stops early?
- the one who is focused and in the moment or the one who is only thinking about the next water break?
-
-
-
the choice is yours, the results are yours.
own your sh*!

I use to love journaling, something about getting your thoughts out on paper... not typing them in on a keyboard, but letting the words and feelings flow from your finger tips, into the pen & onto a tangible piece of paper. it's almost like once the words are there, your mind is free. what do you do to clear your mind? #selfcare #positivethoughts #ridyourmindofclutter #therapy #nowriteorwronganswer 👈🏽see what i did there? #stillpunny 😂#tahitifit #exerciseyourmind #letifflow #thursday #morning #thoughts #pinappleprincess #journal #creative
