Why do i care about ground reaction force displays?

the total ground reaction force curves can be visualized more easily when time normalized.

you can share information immediately that illustrates changes in force through stance phase for both sides of the body. the peak or maximum force is a story of overall impact and loading. the benefit of the analysis is that overlaid curves share the same y axis scaling and the signals can receive diagram statistics parameter like peak or maximum values. this is a faster comparative look that right away gives a symmetry index, which athletes and patients may understand best especially if their chief complaint is regarding an imbalanced or impinged feeling. .

I listened to mid 2000s pop punk instead of deathcore or hardcore when i worked out this morning.... fight me.
i also worked up to a max effort triple on front squat which i didn’t film. then did three heavy struggle singles. stay to the end of the video to see me almost die.

Wpc-sa nationals 2018.
i got a total of 575kg which put me in second place (winner got a 580kg total), where my weight was 88.1kg, in the junior raw division. quite disappointed because i left a lot on the table with my squat and deadlift but being my first nationals and first time ever squatting and benching at a platform, i wanted to play it safe. my goal was to hit a total of 600kg.

really happy with my performance overall. i also entered the raw division (bare knees) but was still grouped with the classic raw guys (allowed knee wraps with the squats), which i actually ended up enjoying (but next time wraps it is then!) i squatted 205kg (where my goal was 220kg), this is more than i could squat before i snapped my achilles tendon)

i benched 130kg (my goal was 140kg) which is around what i could bench before i snapped my achilles

and i deadlifted 240kg which was my pb before my injury, and my goal for this comp.

i count myself blessed to have such an amazing support system, and to have bounced back so strong after my injury, where nobody thought i would end up being stronger than before.
watch this space, those numbers are going to climb higher than bob marley.

250lbs 4x12! sorta. keeping the weight locked out feels like i'm resting. the last 2-3 reps i really couldn't feel anything in my upper body anymore and the weight just went up 🤷🏻‍♂️ gave it all i had and then just a little bit more. .

Deadlift work and accessories...i haven’t posted a recent training video in awhile. so here is one from tonight, with some tips and analysis. the first video is a speed pull. i worked up to 345 and doubled mini bands for some singles. i did 12 sets total, all within the 40-50% range, with bands on top of that. not a whole bunch to analyze with these. i think speed pulls are great to teach you to pull more explosively, to work on technique, and they’re easy to recover from. if you have a day devoted simply to deadlifting, i’d advise you not to pull heavy every week. i used to, and my pull went up when i backed off that. i’m working primarily on my conventional pull, because it’s weak, but i’m doing some speed pulls sumo to stay familiar with the technique. the second video is a random set of 8 on conventional block pulls i filmed as i worked up. these are the hardest deadlift exercise for me, so i do them a lot. i can pull more from a large deficit than i can from blocks. if you pull sumo, i think these can be of benefit to you. the third video is of some glute ham raises. these are a staple for me. i try to stretch my hamstrings on the way down, and keep my chin and chest down the whole time. i drive my knees down, and squeeze my glutes h*****n the way up. it’s easy to cheat on these by extending your spine, and heaving your chest back up out of the bottom. personally, i leave this exercise for my glutes and hamstrings, and train my back in other ways. the fourth video is of 45 degree back raises with a band. i think these can benefit every powerlifter. keep tension constant and don’t lock your hips out for more lower back emphasis. or lock out your hips to get more glutes. these can be done many ways, all of which i do! i hope this video helps some of you when it comes to exercise selection, technique, and ideas! also, apologies for only including a couple reps of each movement, it was hard to fit it all in one post.
